2008 Trips to India &
Thailand
 In January of next
year, my friend Korin will be guiding a trip through India, and I am
definitely going! Is there any interest out there to join
us?
Then in April or
May of next year, I will be organizing a retreat to Thailand, where
we'll begin & end the day with yoga, the rest of the day will be
spent learning Thai massage! The yoga teacher that inspired me
to start teaching has been living there for a couple years &
presented this to me.... I'd love to get an idea if anyone is
interested in coming on this
retreat?

Laughter Yoga- No joke!
:) You've heard the saying laughter is
the best medicine. But do you know why? Laughter
stimulates the release of endorphins, which relaxes the mind,
relieves stress & depression, and makes you look &
feel younger. One of the most devastating effects of
depression is the loss of laughter. Here's a staggering
statistic: Most kids laugh 300-500 times a day. On
average, most adults laugh 10-15 times a day. Do we just
get used to laughing less, and assume that life should get
more depressing as we age? Also, the brain doesn't know
the difference between fake laughter & real laughter, so
you still experience the benefits when you're faking it.
As the saying goes, fake it till you make it! Laughter is
contagious, so it's much easier in a large group. We
have a laughter yoga class integrated into a Hatha Flow class
on Tuesday nights at 7. Everyone is welcomed &
encouraged to come! There are over 5000 clubs in over 50
countries. If you can't come Tuesday nights,
there are clubs in North County,
there's also a group that meets in Balboa Park Saturday
mornings at 9am at 6th &Spruce.

Schedule Changes
Online: Vinyasa Flow & Kids
Yoga Not much is changing
in our schedule this month, except Laura Downing will be joining
us on Wednesday mornings at 10am for a Vinyasa Flow, great for Level
2+ AND our kids yoga is
starting on Sundays 12:15-1pm.
CANCELLED
CLASSES: Mondays at Noon & Fridays
at 8am.
Vinyasa means sequence in
Sanskrit, and while it is not the exact same sequence each
class like traditional astanga, it does involve many sun
salutations. There is music in each
class, and focuses on the breath
& alignment. Laura Downing was trained as a
classical dancer for more than 20 years, and in 2002 became
certified as a yoga teacher, so she has a vast knowledge of body
mechanics. Each of her classes
are a rhythmic, moving meditation allowing her students to
develop flexibility, strength and grace as well as greater
self-awareness and acceptance. For more info, visit her
website, dakiniyoga.com.
Our Kids Yoga class will begin
Sunday, April 15 for 6
weeks. We learned about some difficulty parents
were having with after school times, so we designed it so that
parents can enjoy the last 45 minutes of the Farmers Market
alone while their kids
are in yoga class! Of course you're welcome to join your
child if you like, but you have a
choice.

This is a
grassroots project

1) Encourges people to support local
business by offering ongoing discounts (10-20%) to card
members at locally owned and operated stores, restaurants,
cafes, health providers
and yoga in the Hillcrest / Northpark area.
2) Provides funding for 2 excellent
after school programs in San Diego: Transcendance, a group that teaches at-risk kids
to express themselves through dance; and Terra Nova,
a project at Morse High School that teaches kids how to
cultivate organic urban gardens.
How it works: People
interested in becoming members can purchase an annual
membership card for $5 - 6 ($5 if purchased at a Community
